As you may know, Mr. Luciano Pavarotti passed away at 5 am on 6 Sep 2007 in his hometown, Modena in Italy after struggling with pancreatic cancer over one year.

When he left us, he was only 71 years old. It is not a long life in western Europe. But in this 71 years. He made his dream coming true with his passion and efforts. He became one of the best tenors in this world, he made millions and millions people to start accepting classic music with his amazing beautiful voice and unique performance style. He changed not only the opera world but also the music world as well as our society.

His performance of the song O Sole Mio ( It means “my sun”), My Way and Ave Maia are loved deeply by his crazy fans. The Classic Opera”Nessun Dorma”from Puccini’s “Turandot” was also presented at the opening ceremony of the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy and the Winter Olympics in Turin in February 2006 .

He was born in Oct 12, 1935 in a poor family. His father is a baker and his mother worked in a cigar factory. He and his sister with his parents lives in a two bedrooms apartment. But the life is even worse later. Because of world war II, they have to moved out of the town and live in a single room in the countryside.

When he was young, he got his musical influences from his father. His father is a singer but he rejected singing career due to the reason of being nervous. Pavarotti listened his father’s recordings of the popular singers in that age. From nine years old, he started to sing with his father at a small church choir.

He started to learn music seriously when he was 19. When he was 20, he got his first prize as a member of male choir at an international music competition held in Whales. From that time he was motivated and decide to make singing as his own career.

He worked as a part time teacher firstly and then later on an insurance sales to make some money to cover his music study. in 1965, conductor Richard Bonynge gave his a role in Lucia Di Lammermoor, That made Pavarotti got be recognized.

From 1972, he became the star on the magazines, televisions and began singing in the world famous opera houses and cooperate with some pop stars in the stadium all over the world.

In 1990, Domingo, Carreras and Pavarotti held the three tenors concert and get extremely success. They reached 1.5 Billions People With Opera.

He loved to sign with the famous pop icons. He performed together with U2, Bryan Adams, Elton John, Mariah Carey, Michael Bolton, Darren Hayes, Richy Martin, James Brown. I would say he is the best crossover artist ever. That methods made more and more young man which the classic music is not their cup of tea to start realizing the beauty of classic music. (This is a very interesting topic, we will talk about it later in another separate post. We can learn a lot from this especially in the business world )

There is no doubt, He was the best-selling classical artist. More than 100 million records were sold since the 1960s world wide. He also had the first classical album to reach No. 1 on the pop charts. He generated over 0.3 billion USD in his life. We will write another post talking about this topic.

“I was a fortunate and happy man” Pavarotti said before to an Italy paper. Yes, That’s truth. We can tell it from his charming smile always on his face. His life is exciting and successful and I think all of us get the benefit from his excellent jobs.
